IMP | Kaivalya Plays
Jacintha and Hazel are excited to represent IMP at BIF2019! IMP is a trilingual improvisation troupe from Helsinki, Finland that loves experimenting with and developing different long-form styles. IMP aspires to help grow and develop the improv community in Helsinki e.g. by organizing workshops and events, but is also enthusiastically connecting with improvisers worldwide. IMP was founded in 2005 under the Swedish-speaking Student Theatre in Helsinki and has performed at festivals both in Finland (Tampere, Turku, Vaasa) and abroad (Barcelona, Gothenburg, Tallinn).
Kaivalya Plays is an independent group of Delhi theatre practitioners who seek to create more opportunities for women in theatre, mentor new talent and innovate theatre formats. Since 2012, the team, led by Varoon P. Anand as its Artistic Director and supported by Gaurav Singh as Production Manager, has worked with the kind support of various Delhi institutions such as Instituto Cervantes, Goethe-Institut / Max Mueller Bhavan, Indian Habitat Centre, LTG and Oddbird Theatre to elaborate new performances. Our improv group CueLess improv was one Delhi's first improv teams and became the training ground for a generation of improv performers and heads of new teams. CueLess stopped performing short-form shows in 2018 to focus on the therapeutics effects of improv on mental health conditions. This lead to the creation of "Unravel" a one-of-its-kind theatrical production about the therapeutic effects of improv on symptoms of depression and anxiety. The show is improvised, based on a loose structure, and showcases improv games and also offers takeaways for those games to real life situations.
